Function
To provide quality in implementation, management and maintenance of project in drainage and irrigation schemes at Limbang Division.
 
 
Scope of Works
  • To operate and maintain the existing DID schemes to ensure the infrastructures can be functioned effiently and effectively.
     
  • To rehabilitate and upgrade existing facilities in order to enhance the function of existing DID schemes.
     
  • To introduce modern practice and advance technology in drainage and irrigation areas.

 

MERAPOK IRRIGATION SCHEME

Location

The project has an area of about 353 ha and it lies between latitude 4 degree 47 min. N, longitude 115 degree 29 min. E and 115 degree 31min. E in the State of Sarawak. The area is in Fifth Diversion and situated approximately 10 km from Limbang Town, near to the Daerah Temburong, Brunei Darussalam separated by Sungai Pandaruan.

 

Objectives

i)  Develop the area using proper water management through irrigation structures.

ii)  Improve the existing paddy land by providing drainage and irrigation facilities.

iii)  Slat water inundation of the project area during hide tide.

Construction Period

1972-1985.

Project Cost

Project Cost is RM 1,440,000.00.

Project Area

Total project area is 353.0 ha.

 

 

 

Project  Components 
           

The main components of the project works consist of the following:-

a) 4,358m of perimeter drain/ bund with 1 no. creek closure and 1 no. tidal gate to prevent salt water inundation.

b) 1,779m of internal drains with 5 nos. drainage end control to improve the internal drainage.

c) 3,169m of zinc sheet lined timber flume for distribution of irrigation water with 1 no. off take, 5 nos. diversion box and 3 nos. irrigation end control.

d) 1,829m of R.C. canal for field water distribution with 1 no. diversion box and 2 nos. irrigation end control.

e) 1,219m of earth canal with 1 no. diversion box and 2 nos. irrigation end control.

0.39 ha of depot for quarters, barrack and office cum store for Scheme Management monitoring.

Crop

Paddy(34 ha).

Population

1,813 people(50% Kadayan, 50% Brunei Malays).

 

PANDARUAN IRRIGATION SCHEME

Location

The project has an area of about 353 ha and it lies between latitude 4 degree 47 min. N, longitude 115 degree 29 min. E and 115 degree 31min. E in the State of Sarawak. The area is in Fifth Diversion and situated approximately 10 km from Limbang Town, near to the Daerah Temburong, Brunei Darussalam separated by Sungai Pandaruan.

 

Objectives

Original design of this project is to achieve the following:-

a) Improve the existing padi land with proper drainage and irrigation facilities.

b) Raise the standard of living of the Kpg. Pahlawan’s settlers.

c) Increase employment opportunites

Construction Period

1971-1975

Project Cost

Project Cost is RM 500,000.00

Project Area

Total project area is 127 ha.

 

 

Project   Components
    

The main components of the project works consist of the following:-

a) 1 no. pump house with 3 nos. engine and pumps @ a capacity of 5 cusec each for supplying irrigation water to the project.

b) 3,138m of R.C. conveyance canal with a stilling basin, a diversion box, 15 control slots and 2 irrigation end control for supply of irrigation water to field

c) 1,267 of A.C. pipe distributory canal with 5 control slots and a irrigation end control for distribution of irrigation water to field.

d) 4,811m of internal drain with 4 nos. check gate to improve the internal drainage.

Paddy(37.4 ha)

Population

952 people(100% Kadayan)
