DID Kapit was established on 7th January 2021. In the past, DID Kapit was merged with DID Sibu. Being the youngest divisional office in DID Sarawak,

DID Kapit serve the biggest division in Sarawak which  covered four (4) districts i.e Kapit, Song, Belaga and Bukit Mabong.

DID Kapit now officially split from DID Sibu and moved to its permanent office at 3rd floor of Sarawak State Complex Office, Jalan Bleteh, Kapit
 

The main functions of DID Kapit are included the implementation of water resource development projects,

especially in the field of agriculture drainage, irrigation, hydrology, urban drainage, flood mitigation, river engineering and rural infrastructure. 

Apart from that, DID Kapit also involve in evaluation of water resources, engineering planning and design of projects related to the usage of water including

the management and maintaining of these projects.
