Early 1973. Alienation of 173 parcels of land completed in 1974.

Project Location

The scheme is located in the Seventh Division of Sarawak, approximately half way between the towns of Kapit and Belaga on the left bank of Upper Rejang River.

Project Area The gross acreage of the scheme including the canals, drain and camp site reserve is 184 hectares whereas the nett acreage is 159 hectares
Project Objective

The people in the area have never successfully mastered the technique of wet padi cultivation. With the introduction of irrigation in the area, the following are expected:-

a) A more permanent and settled padi cultivation for the local people.
b) An introduction of double cropping and off-season cash cropping.
c) An extensive utilisation of the land with other cultivators in the neighbouring area participating.
Project Component

a)

3 units 4 cusec axial flow pump each powered by a 51hp Dorman Diesel Engine.
b) 2.425m of T-shaped concrete supply canal/bund with more than 10 check gates.
c) 3" diameter feeder pipes were installed along the canal where needed.
d) Earth drains and supply ditches constructed during the late 70's were mostly covered up.
