OPERATION & MAINTAINENCE

Operations and Maintenance Section Technicians led by public and assisted by laborer in their respective schemes. This section is to assist the Department in implementing major maintenance scheme to the Department of the smooth, effective, efficient and orderly. 

UNIT ACTIVITY

1.

Carry out monitoring of the scheme.

2.

To organize the labor for the job.

3.

Monitoring the scheme from time to time.

4.

Maintenance work for schemes such as cut grass, extended drainage and etc. 

5.

Carry out the upgrading scheme using the machinery department or contract basis. 

6.

Make monthly progress reports for the respective schemes. 

SCHEMES MAINTENANCE AND UPGRADING

Schemes maintenance and upgrading to carry out maintenance and upgrading of the scheme, there are two ways of using the machinery department or contract basis. There are two types of provisions in the contract provided for the management of the state provisions and the provisions of the federal government. Provision for the federal government is RM200,000.00 and the provisions for state government only RM50,000.00 for each tender.

Scheme Location

It is bounded by Batang Strap on the west and Batang Klauh on the sounth just opposite Banting Bazaar in Lingga District.

Scheme Area

344 hectares.

Cost of Construction

Initial project cost is RM 1.645 million.
Rehabilitation cost is RM 894,000.00.
Annual O & M cost is RM 100,000.00.

Objective of Scheme

The main objective for implementation of the scheme area to have self sufficiency in paddy production and to increase the income of farmers which would meet the N.E.P. and N.A.P. The rehabilitation works are to alleviate all constraints that have been inhibiting more intensive agricultural development.

Scheme Components/ Infrastructures

The main components are :
a). Pump house with 3 nos. of water pumps which each has a capacity of 12 cusec.
b). 5.9 km of timber canals.
c). 850 m of R.C. Canals.
d). 1.7 km of A.C. delivery pipeline.
e). 1 no. of 5' x 5' tidal control gate
f). 10.7 km of perimeter drain and bund.
g). 4.1 km of cut-off drain
h). 5 nos. of R.C. checkgate.
The rehabilitation works were the improvement of the 5.3 km of the timber canals and the 1.7 km of the A.C. delivery pipeline

TANJUNG BIJAT CONTROLLED DRAINAGE SCHEME

Scheme Location

Is situated on the left bank of Batang Lupar about 16 km down river of Sri Aman. By road it is about 25 km from Sri Aman Town

Scheme Area

1,224 hectares.

Cost of Construction

Initial project cost is RM 927,000.00.
Rehabilitation cost which started in 1984 is RM 2,000,000.00
Annual O & M cost is RM 130,000.00.

Objective of Scheme

1. To construct controlled drainage outlets and perimeter bunding to prevent salt water intrusion and flash flood.
2. To improve the water managment by construction of more field drains and control structures especially inland where the peat area can be drained of water to enable more utiliuzation of land for farming.

The scheme is situated on the left bank of Btg. Lupar about 18 km down river from Sri Aman.

Scheme Area

It consists of 5 separate blocks which make up an area of 306 ha.

RM 1.35 million

Objective of Scheme

To improve the area for cultivation of padi. This in turn will increase the income and improve the living standard of the farmers.

Objective of Scheme

The implemention of the scheme is to improve the existing padi area. With the drainage facilities, it can provide a favourable condition for an off season cultivation.
