MID-SADONG I DRAINAGE SCHEME
Location 
The project lies on the left bank of Batang Sadong and about half (1/2) hour boat ride upstream from Simunjan. Located in Simunjan District in Samarahan Division.

Project Objectives

The main objective of the scheme is to improve the drainage of the existing padi areas and to utilize the swampy jungle area for coconut and other tree crops planting.
Prior to the implementation of the Scheme, the area was under State Land and native Customary Right Lands. With the implementation of the scheme, land consilidation exercise was carried out whereby 1200 acres of State Land and about 500 Native Land Customary lands were sub-divided up to farm regular coconut lots (average 10 acres) and padi lots (average 2.5 acres). Another objective was to provide for housing lots (total 145 lots) at 0.25 acres each.
Construction Period Project was constructed in 1966 and completed in 1970
Project Cost Total cost for the project was RM 447,000.00

Project Area  
Project Component The main components of the scheme consist of the following :-
1. Provision of drainage and flood control facilities for the area alleviate flooding.
2. Provision of water level control structures for better water managment in paddy area.
3. Provision of farm roads for transportation.
4. A site office building and living accomodation for staff involved in the supervision, operation and maintenance of the scheme.

NOTE : Errosion of the banks of Batang Sadong is continuously destroying portion of perimeter bund in the scheme. As a results, construction of retreat bund along errosion effected area have to be implemented to safeguard the remaining area of the scheme. This has led to a significant reduction in its scheme area.
MID-SADONG II DRAINAGE SCHEME
Location 
Located on right bank of Batang Sadong, mid way between Simunjan and Gedong in Simunjan District

Project Objectives

The main objectivies of the scheme was to provide flood protection works and provide proper drainage to the area which had no natural drainage outlets stuffed from water logging and absence of water table control.
Construction Period Scheme constructed in the year 1968 an completed in the year 1971.
Project Cost Total project cost was RM 400,000.00
Date of Completion Project completed in the year 1983.
Project Area This scheme covers a gross area of 390 hactares (revised)
Project Component The main component of the scheme consist of the following :-
1. Provision of adequate drainage system to solve water logging in the coconut area.
2. Provision of water level control structure for better water managment in paddy field.
3. Protection for tidal inundation along with control drainage in the paddy and residential housing area.
4. Provision of farm roads for transportation.
5. A site office and living accomodation for staff involved in the supervision, operation and maintenance of the scheme.

MID-SADONG III DRAINAGE SCHEME
Location 
This scheme located on the left bank of Batang Sadong about half (1/2) hour boat ride downstream from Gedong. This project located in Simunjan District, Samarahan Division.

Project Objectives

The main objectives of the scheme was to provide adequate drainage to the area which was logged due to absence of natural drainage outlets and to provide for proper managment for paddy area. The scheme was also open up more land cultivation.
Construction Period The project construction period is from 1971 and completed in 1973
Project Cost Cost for this project is RM 300,000.00 and financing by Faderal Goverment. Internal Rate of Return are about 20%.
Date of Completion Project completed in the year 1973.
Project Area The project lefe is 20 years and total area for this project are 269.19 hectares and cultivate area are 233.0 hectares.
Project Component The main component of the scheme consist of the following :-
1. Provision of drainage system to overcome the water logged in the coconut area.
2. Provision of water level control structures for better water managment in paddy area.
3. Protection for tidal inundation along with control drainage in the paddy area.
4. Provision of farm roads for communication / transportation.
5. A site office and living accomodation for staff involved in the supervision, operation and maintenance of the scheme.

PAYA PAYANG IRRIGATION SCHEME
Location 
The rivers are Tubih and Payang which are the main source of water supply, flow through the centre part of the scheme. The project area is located in the valley between the Payang and Pichin mountains, approximately 22 km from the Serian town by Serian-Tebedu road.

Project Objectives

The main objectives of the scheme was to provide proper and controlled irrigation water to the paddy field. Prior to the implementation of the scheme, water was not controlled causing either over and under supply of water.
Construction Period Scheme constructed in the year 1968 an completed in the year 1971.
Project Cost Total cost for the project is RM 32,000.00.
Date of Completion The project completed in 1976.
Project Area The total area first marked out by State Goverment in 1970s for the scheme was appoximately 80 hectares. The scheme was later in1980s revised to 40 hectares.
Project Component The major physical components for the project are as listed below :-
1. Provision of irrigation canal and flood control facilities to the paddy fields.
2. provision of main water level control structures for improved water managment.
3. irrigation ponds were provided for water storing.
4. Provision of farm roads for transportation.
5. A site office and living accomodation for staff involed in the supervision, operation and maintenance of the scheme.

Design Concept & Criteria The general design concept is to store sufficient water using overflow weirs and irrigation ponds. The flow of the water is controlled by check gates and gravity feed from a higher to lower level. No mechnical equipment is used to transfer the water.

RURAL GROWTH CENTRE GEDONG BLOCK A
Location 
The project area lies partly within Simunjan and partly in Serian district.

Project Objectives

To raise the productivity and income of the farmers through the provision of improved drainage facilities, access roads and intensive agricultural services.
Construction Period The project start November 1997 and completed in November 1998
Project Cost The cost for this project is RM 866,000.00.
Date of Completion The project completed in November 1998
Project Area Its cover an area of 400 hectares.
Project Component The main project components are as follows :-
1. Provision of drainage and flood control facilities for the area.
2. Provision of water level control structures for water managment at farm level.
3. Provision of farm access road.
