      Renting is considered best alternative when :-
      * low annual use with specialised operations.
      * required in periods of uncertainity
      * execution of important operation within certain time
      * deferring of capital expenditure.

(ii)  Leasing - usually  for long term usage
      Leasing is considered best alternative when

      * short term opportunity in business occured
      * higher rate of return of business
      * uncertain future where long term comittment is defered
      * operational advantage of  having the latest model machine
      * business to phase out soon

(iii)  Owning - admitted as an asset/investment
      Owning is considered best alternative when
      * capital is not a limiting factor
      * size of business fairly stable
      * machine unlikely to become obsolete before worn out
      * tax consideration an advantage

(b) Machinery Maintenance

Machine is designed with a definite life span due to cost and economy as well as development and innovative changes. Therefore, all machines will eventually fail and failure management is the essence of machine maintenance. Machine failure were generally caused by
 * normal wear and tear
 * aging and loss of efficiency
 * breakdowns and accidents

The ideal of machine maintenance is to maintain the machine in such a way that the machine behaves according to its original design capability. To manage  a machine maintenance effectively, a good knowledge of the followings is needed
  *  what or which should fail
  *  when it should fail
  *  how it fail
  *  why it fail

Machine maintenance were categorised into:
 *  planned maintenance (preventive/corrective)
 *  unplanned maintenance (emergency)
 *  maintenance prevention (operation/replacement)
