MIRI (Jan 12): Flooding in most parts of Desa Senadin receded since Sunday afternoon following improved weather conditions, said Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin.

However, the Minister for Transport said two residential lanes of Jalan Jati remained inundated.

The Senadin assemblyman visited the affected areas on Sunday afternoon together with the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Miri and his service centre team to assess the situation.

“Apart from Jalan Jati, there are two other locations where patches of water are still present on the road. We also inspected outlet drains connected to the water detention ponds,” he said in a statement.

Lee said water levels in the detention ponds remained high.

“Following the inspection, it was decided that DID will meet Sarawak Energy (SEB) today (Monday) to clear a major stream drain bottleneck at the SEB pylons area near the Tudan substation to facilitate discharge from the detention ponds,” he said.

He added DID Miri will also urgently clear several detention pond outlets.
