MIRI: Residents of Kampung 1Malaysia Pujut Padang Kerbau are appealing to the authorities concerned to repair the village’s wooden bridge. Village security and development committee (JKKK) chairman Jimbun Lambul, 54, said one of the main wooden structures underneath the bridge has cracked.

“We are appealing to DID (Drainage and Irrigation Department) to repair the bridge or build a culvert there as the bridge is the only access to the village,” he said.

Jimbun said villagers are worried that the bridge might collapse at any time as many vehicles cross it every day. He called on the authorities to inspect the bridge and recommended it be replaced with stronger material such as belian.

“I hope the bridge can be repaired as soon as possible, as there are always many vehicles, including heavy vehicles crossing the bridge,” he added.
