BINTULU (Aug 29): Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang yesterday inspected the newly completed drainage project at the Anglican Cemetery here.
He was accompanied by his service centre team, representatives of the cemetery committee, and officers from the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID).
Pang noted that the cemetery had long faced poor drainage, with heavy rainfall often causing flooding and damaging the grounds.
The issue, he said, had been raised to his office multiple times by the cemetery representatives.
“Following their request, we carried out several site visits and evaluations with the relevant departments.
“I am pleased to share that the project, funded under my Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) allocation, has been completed successfully, and even ahead of schedule.”
Pang extended his appreciation to all parties involved including the contractor, DID, and the cemetery representatives for their cooperation and commitment in ensuring smooth execution of the project.
Pang also revealed that the cemetery committee has submitted two additional requests: the construction of a second entrance, and the refurbishment of the existing entrance pavilion.
He said the relevant department has been instructed to prepare cost estimates and draft design blueprints for the proposed improvements.
