BINTANGOR (Aug 8): Sarawak Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii, continues to champion rural development efforts with a strong emphasis on improving basic infrastructure in Bintangor’s outer regions.

The Sarikei MP and Repok assemblyman recently submitted a funding proposal through the Sarikei Division Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) to carry out drainage upgrades and maintenance works in several rural locations surrounding Bintangor.

“This initiative aims to resolve long-standing issues such as stagnant water, blocked water flow, and ineffective drainage systems that continue to trouble local communities,” he said.

As part of the effort, the Sarikei Parliamentary Service Centre team and Sarikei DID officers conducted a series of on-site inspections and assessments at identified problem areas.

The purpose of these site visits was to evaluate the extent of the issues and develop a targeted action plan for improvements.

Among the locations earmarked for action are Jalan Sing Tung Kwong, Batu 6.5 Jalan Kelupu, Sungai Palaie-Mador, Sungai Jalan Chai Hing Tulai, Jalan Kai Sian Mador, Jalan Rumah Lidik anak Baling Sg Mador, Jalan Tulai, and Koperasi Tulai area.

The inspections were led by officers from the Sarikei Division Drainage and Irrigation Department, including Mary Rittie and Alwani Abdullah.
