KUCHING (March 6): The Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Sarawak plans to extend its Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) to all divisions in the state this year, following its successful implementation at the headquarters, announced director Datu Ir Ts Ahmad Denney Ahmad Fauzi.
“This year, I plan to direct our KUI (Head of Integrity Unit) to expand the ABMS to the divisional level.
“If there are no obstacles, we will achieve this goal, inshallah,” he said during the department’s Integrity Day 2025 celebration here on Wednesday.
Ahmad Denney revealed that the department applied for the ABMS certification in October 2024, and had successfully obtained ISO 37001:2016 certification from SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd on Dec 30, 2024.
“This achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of our team. It was a challenging task, but with everyone’s cooperation, we managed to complete it in just four months,” he said.
Additionally, DID Sarawak will be competing for the 2025 Integrity, Governance, and Anti-Corruption Award (AIGA), having participated last year without success.
“AIGA serves as a benchmark for organisations in assessing their capabilities and commitment to internal control systems, integrity governance, and corruption prevention.
“I have given our KUI and officers a mandate to ensure that we at least secure an award this year,” he said.
Ahmad Denney also reaffirmed the department’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, stressing that DID Sarawak would not compromise on any form of misconduct or non-compliance in project execution.
The event was graced by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian and gathered DID officers from across Sarawak, underscoring the department’s efforts to strengthen integrity and accountability within its ranks.
Among those present were Dr Sim’s deputy Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, Sarawak Integrity and Ombudsman Unit director Wan Mohamad Wan Drahman, Sarawak MACC Deputy Director (Prevention) Wan Ahmad Nidzam Wan Omar, and Sirim Sarawak regional director Shahrizan Mohammad Sahmoni.
