KUCHING (March 6): The Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Sarawak has become the first technical department in the state to obtain the Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) certification.
Its director Datu Ir Ts Ahmad Denney Ahmad Fauzi stated that the application to develop the ABMS was submitted to SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd starting in October 2024.
“Alhamdulillah, on Dec 30, 2024, DID Sarawak was certified for ABMS at the Headquarters level by SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd.
“DID Sarawak takes integrity issues in the implementation of development projects seriously and will not compromise on any non-compliance or leakage in project execution.
“We will also take action and not protect any misconduct or breach of integrity by any officer.
“I believe that if all DID Sarawak personnel can embrace and practise the values of integrity and accountability in fulfilling their entrusted duties, then the leap envisioned by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to achieve high-integrity state by 2030 will be within our reach,” he said.
He said this during the DID Sarawak Integrity Day 2025 celebration at a hotel here on Wednesday, which was officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.
Ahmad Denney also congratulated all parties directly and indirectly involved for their efforts and commitment in developing the department’s ABMS, adding that DID Sarawak plans to expand the ABMS certification to the divisional level in the future.
“This year, DID Sarawak will also participate in the Integrity, Governance, and Anti-Corruption Award (AIGA) 2025.
“AIGA serves as a benchmark for organisations to help assess their capabilities and commitment in implementing internal control systems for integrity management, governance, and corruption prevention.
“We hope that this year, DID Sarawak will achieve success and be listed among the candidates for the AIGA award,” he said.
Ahmad Denney also stated that DID Sarawak has been recognised as one of the Technical Departments under Treasury Instruction 182, which grants authority to administer federal government development projects in Sarawak with a project value limit not exceeding RM50 million.
With this recognition, he said, DID Sarawak is committed to ensuring that all personnel adhere to the established Standard Operating Procedures to guarantee that all planned development projects are implemented and completed within the stipulated time frame.
