Three evacuation centers stay open

KUCHING: Three flood evacuation centers remain opened in the state even though yesterday was generally sunny.

According to a disaster report from the Meteorology Kuching Office, these centres are Dewan Sukan KPSU Tatau, Dewan Masyarakat Bakong and SK Kampung Iran.

On the weather, the weatherman said satellite images taken at 3pm and radar images at 3.30pm yesterday showed rain-cloud clusters concentrating in Limbang, in the central region, and in the interior.

Heavy rain with lightning warning was subsequently issued for Limbang.

Similar weather conditions are expected in Miri, Bintulu and Belaga in Kapit, coupled with strong winds and flash floods.

In the evening, heavy, continuous rain is expected up north and rain in one or two places in west and central Sarawak.

Generally, the state will be damp the next few days, especially in the north and in the interior in the evening till night, and in the morning for coastal areas.
