Client Charter


We will give our quality professional service in the planning, design, implementation and management of all programmes and irrigation, drainage, river engineering, coastal engineering, hydrological and water resource projects. Our service will be based on solid engineering principles whilst considering the requirements of the economy and social needs.

We promise to perform our duties based on the main Functions of the Department as below:-
 
FUNCTION : IRRIGATION
Principle Client : Paddy Farmers 

1. Plan & design irrigation schemes which promote the proper, efficient and economic use of water

2. Maintain and manage irrigation schemes so as to ensure adequate water supply for the planting of paddy in 
    accordance woth the planting schedule.

3. Give early notice to farmers 2 weeks before commencing the water supply to the field.

4. To be responsible to respond within 48 hours of receiving complaints relating to water supply which could
    probably be due to distruption, supply system failure, failure of intake or shortage of water and take
    immediate steps to rectify the situation.
 
FUNCTION : DRAINAGE
Principle Client : Farmers

1. Plan & design efficient drainage schemes for agricultural development that benefit small-holder

2. Maintain & manage drainage schemes ensuring efficient drainage system so as to provide benefit to the
    small-holders.

3. Investigate all flood & water logging reports within 72 hours & to take immediate steps to rectify the
    situation.

4. Take immediate rehabilitation action to repair damages to the basic facilities within 72 hours.

5. To prevent the deterioration of environmental quality & to reduce adverse effects caused by drainage
    schemes
 
FUNCTION : RIVER ENGINEERING / URBAN DRAINAGE
Principle Client : Public , Property Owner

River Engineering
1. To conserve the river system such that it remains in an effectively hydraulic condition to lessen the
    occurances of floods.

2. Provide feedbacks & technical comments relating to river engineering within 2 - 6 weeks

3. Respond to all complaints relating to river engineering within 2 - 4 days

4. Take emergency repairs to overcome river problems within 2 - 6 days.

Urban Drainage
1. Repair main drainage system more effectively in major towns in Sarawak.

2. Conserve the main drainage system in urban areas in an effective state to lessen the occurances of floods.

3. Provide feedbacks & technical comments relating to urban drainage within 2 - 8 weeks

4. Respond to all complaints relating to urban within 1 week.

5. Take emergency repair actions to overcome urban drainage system problems in major towns within 4 days.

FUNCTION : COASTAL ENGINEERING
Principle Clients : Public, Property Owner, Farmers

1. Ensure coastal erosion protection system continues to function effectively

2. Take actions, within 48 hours to carry out emergency repair works to damaged coastal erosion control
    structures / facilities.

3. Respond to all complaints relating to coastal erosion within 48 hours.

4. Give response / comments to the Land & Survey Department in applications for sand / stone extraction
    within 4 days.
 
FUNCTION : HYDROLOGY & WATER RESOURCES
Principle Clients : Public, Consultants, Goverment Agencies,
                             Reseachers/IPT

1. To supply quality data & hydrological information within 5 working days.

2. To provide consultancy, technical comments &
feedbacks within 14  working days.

3.
To monitor, predict the water level of rivers, give flood warning and to provide 'online' flood reports within 24
    hours via DID Malaysia Website at http://reportbanjir.water.gov.my (Online Flood Warning & Reporting
    System)
