A section of Jalan Kong Yit Khim inundated by flood today.

SIBU (March 6): Several parts of Jalan Kong Yit Khim here were inundated by floods this evening following continuous heavy rain since yesterday, which coincided with high tide.

Sibu divisional engineer for the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), Rudi Abang Zamhari, attributed the flooding to a combination of these factors.

“Heavy rain yesterday in upper catchment Baleh and Rajang coincided with high tide,” he said when contacted today.

Meanwhile, according to DID’s Public InfoBanjir website https://publicinfobanjir.water.gov.my/, the water level at Sungai Salim B station had breached the danger level as of 8pm.

The station recorded a reading of 3.29 metres, surpassing the danger threshold of 3.10 metres.
