SEBUYAU: Thirteen projects under the Sarawak government’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) have been approved for implementation here this year, says Assistant Minister of Coastal Road Datuk Julaihi Narawi.

Among them are community halls, mosque upgrading and a hawker centre.

He said this during a working visit to check the progress of eight projects which are under 2018 and this year on Wednesday.

Julaihi who is Sebuyau assemblyman was accompanied by senior staff of the implementing agencies from Samarahan Division like Drainage and Irrigation (DID), Public Works Department (JKR), Resident and District Offices.

“The RTP is a continuous effort of the state government under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to give projects that are beneficial to the people in the villages and longhouses,” he said.

He pointed out that the visit was a routine work of the Sebuyau RTP committee members which he heads.

He also stressed that the committee would continue to make site visits of the various projects to get first-hand feedback and relevant information in order to settle any problems that may arise.

“We will prefer to make site visits because by doing so, we will be able to get input, feedback and know the problems related to the works from the people,” he added.

Julaihi also said RM2.5 million has been allocated for the construction of Sebangan mosque and open tender is expected to be out in the first quarter of this year.

Last year, there were 18 projects in the constituency with some completed while the remaining expected to be completed soon.

Also present were Samarahan Resident Brahim Lumpu and Sarawak Administrative Officer (SAO) from Sebuyau sub-district Ajis Ahmad.
